Travelling regularly is a part of my professional life and also something I thoroughly enjoy. This winter I decided to take some days off to truly go on vacation with friends. The destination we chose was Gujarat and our checklist included some unconventional activities and of course lots and lots of traditional Gujarati food.

My business manager and great friend Kuldeep Desai along with his family and some of our other friends took off to the Gir forest for a few days. Known for its fierce lions, I was really hoping I’d spot at least a few. However, nature had some different plans for us. We waited for hours until the moon shone beautifully but failed to spot even one of them. No food, no water, and no lions to spot too. Nature and its games! To add to the wild adventure we even had the chance to have some fun with the adiviasis of the village. I danced just like a carefree bird would fly in the infinite sky. The experience was absolutely thrilling and definitely memorable.

Our next stop was a beautiful ashram tucked in a remote corner near Rajkot. Brimming with positive energy, I knew it was a place I’d fall in love with. Away from the hectic, noisy and stressful city life was the ashram that showered peace and happiness amidst the splendid Mother Nature! We enjoyed the true flavour of food cooked on fire and let me tell you, nothing has ever tasted so delicious. Brought back immense happiness and joy from this serene location.

I returned to Mumbai but soon came Makar Sankranti. To celebrate the festival in the true spirit we went to Ahmedabad for the Kite Festival. Starting with the traditional Gujarati breakfast ‘ Fafda and Jalebi’, Kuldeepji made sure we all had a great time. Tried my hands on flying a kite for the first time in my life and trust me it was absolutely fun filled. The music, enthusiasm, food, people just made it an incredible holiday experience for me.

To complete my trip, I had to return to the ashram once again. A few days of complete isolation from work and other chores was a great way to rejuvenate and get back to continue spreading some love through my music!
