Ahmedabad Diaries

15
Nov 2014

Spreading love and divinity through music has been very close to my heart. This time we decided to spread this love among the people of Ahmedabad. Saturday, 15th November 2014 was when Ru Ba Ru, a Live Sufi evening was organized at one of the most prestigious venue in the city, the Gujarat University Convention Centre.

I landed in the beautiful and warm Ahmedabad on 14th November and my day as usual was packed with a lot of activities. I love to make the most of the time I get to spend in a new city and that's what I did this time too. The day began with interviews by various publications like DNA, Dainisk Bhaskar and then a very fun filled chat with RJ Ekta in the Radio Mirchi studios about Trance with Khusrow.

Since it was Children's Day, I wanted to do something meaningful and share some love and joy to children who somehow are unable to spend their childhood just like other kids. I visited the Lok Seva Foundation who is working for HIV+ children. Unaware about the grave illness they are suffering from, each one of them was overjoyed to have received a box of chocolates. It was an emotional moment for me which immediately made me think, "Duniya mein itna gham hai, mera gham kitna kam hai".

In the night, I was invited for dinner at Rajwadi, a restaurant that serves sumptuous traditional Gujarati delicacies. Absolute joy! However, the night had different plans for me. In the rush to walk out of my seat at the restaurant, I took a quick jump and slipped, thanks to the muck. I severely hurt my shoulder and mind you, it was just a night before my concert, Ru Ba Ru.

But, the show must go on! I popped in a couple of pain killers and took to the stage. The support, love, care of my entire team definitely played a major role in making me feel much better. I also got a new name by my team, a Tigress for having bravely fought the injury.

As the evening began, the medicines had worked, but the force from up there made me loose myself as always. The vibes, divinity and energy made me forget all the pain and submit myself to my love for music.

The show proceeded beautifully, the thunderous claps told me the audience was floating in a state of trance. Ru Ba Ru was a successful evening, thanks to the sponsors  (Dainik Jagran Group) and most importantly my manager, Kuldeep Desai and the organizers, Nirav Thakkar  and Pranay Naigaonkar who worked tirelessly to make this evening memorable for each one who witnessed Ru Ba Ru.
